From the towering High Atlas Mountains and the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou to the golden dunes of Merzouga, every stop brings something unique.
During this tour, We’ll explore the dramatic landscapes of the Dades and Todra Gorges, visit the peaceful cedar forests of Azrou, and discover the rich history of the imperial cities of Marrakech, Meknes, Volubilis, Rabat, and Casablanca.
Tour Plan: 8 Days Marrakech Morocco Tour
Day 1: Marrakech - Ouarzazate - Boumalne Dades
We start our trip by crossing the High Atlas Mountains and Tizi N-Tichka pass where you get to enjoy some of the panoramic views.
Our first stop is the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ait Benhaddou, a famous kasbah used in films like Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and Lawrence of Arabia. After exploring this ancient fortress, we head to Ouarzazate, home to the Atlas Film Studios, where many Hollywood blockbusters were filmed.
We continue along the “Road of 1,000 Kasbahs” to reach Boumalne Dades, where we’ll have dinner and stay in a traditional riad or hotel.
Day 2: Boumalne Dades - Todra Gorges - Merzouga Sahara
After having a traditional breakfast, We drive along the scenic Dades Valley and stop at Todra Gorges, where the canyon walls rise to 300 meters. It’s a popular spot for hikers and photographers.
From there, we continue towards Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Upon arrival, We’ll begin a camel trek across the golden dunes of Merzouga, enjoying a beautiful sunset before spending an overnight stay in a desert camp.
Day 3: Merzouga 4x4 Desert Excursion
Wake up a little bit early to see the sunrise over the dunes, a breathtaking moment you’ll always remember.
After breakfast, we’ll go on a 4×4 desert tour to explore the areas around Merzouga town. The first destination in our off-road adventure is Khamlia village, where we’ll enjoy traditional Gnawa music performances.
We’ll also visit local nomadic families, discover ancient mines at M’ifis, and see the lush palm groves. In the afternoon, you’ll have free time to stroll the streets of Merzouga or relax before returning to your hotel.
Day 4: Merzouga - Rissani - Erfoud - Midelt
Today, we leave the desert and head towards Rissani, a town known for its busy market, which was once a starting point for caravans to Timbuktu. You’ll explore the market, full of local goods and spices.
Then, we’ll visit Erfoud where you can see how ancient fossils are made into art and jewelry. Next, we drive through the beautiful Ziz Valley, full of palm trees and date farms.
Next is Ziz Gorges, a place where the river has carved through volcanic rocks, creating tall cliffs. After crossing the Tizi N Talghamt pass, with its great views of the mountains, we’ll arrive in Midelt to spend a peaceful night in the foothills of the Middle Atlas Mountains.
Day 5: Midelt - Azrou Cedar Forest - Fes
Our tour continues through the impressive Middle Atlas Mountains. We’ll stop in the Cedar Forest near Azrou, where you can see and take pictures with Barbary monkeys.
We’ll head to Ifrane, a charming town known as the “Switzerland of Morocco”. Afterward, we’ll continue our way to Fes, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or riad.
Day 6: Fes Sightseeing Tour With Local Guide
Today, you’ll go on a sightseeing tour to explore the old city of Fes. With your local guide, you’ll start by visiting the Medina, the largest and oldest in the world.
This UNESCO World Heritage site is home to Al Quaraouin University, the oldest university still operating today.
As we walk through the medina, we’ll visit the Nejjarine Museum which offers a closer look at the traditional Moroccan crafts, and explore the Jewish Quarter, known for its unique buildings.
Another interesting spot is the famous Chouara Tannery, where you’ll see how leather is made using traditional methods. From a nearby rooftop, you can watch workers dye leather in large stone vats.
In the afternoon, you’re free to explore Fes at your own pace.
Day 7: Fes - Volubilis - Meknes - Rabat
After breakfast, we head to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, another UNESCO World Heritage site. This archaeological site offers a glimpse into life during the Roman Empire.
After that, we make our way to Meknes, where we’ll visit the grand Bab El Mansour gate and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail.
From Meknes, we continue to the capital city of Rabat, where we’ll stay overnight after exploring the Kasbah of the Udayas and the Hassan Tower.
Day 8: Rabat - Casablanca - Marrakech
On the final day, we discover the iconic Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, one of the largest mosques in Africa. After exploring Casablanca, we head back to Marrakech city where you’ll have free time to visit the famous Jemaa El Fna square or any of the other many attractions the city is known for.
Our tour from Marrakech ends by dropping you off at your accommodation.
