4 Days Tour Marrakech to Merzouga

Overview

Join us on a 4-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga, where we’ll cross the High Atlas Mountains, visit the famous Ait Benhaddou, and pass through Ouarzazate, known for its movie studios.

We’ll also explore the beautiful Dades Valley and Todra Gorge, two of Morocco’s most stunning natural sites.

In Merzouga, you’ll go on a camel riding experience to enjoy the Erg Chebbi dunes and spend an overnight in a desert camp. On the way back, we’ll visit Rissani and pass through the Draa Valley, before returning to Marrakech.

Tour Plan: 4 Days Tour Marrakech to Merzouga

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Dades Valley

We’ll leave Marrakech at 8:00 AM and head into the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi Ntichka Pass with its stunning views.

Our first stop is the renowned Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We’ll explore the ancient kasbah, which is featured in famous films like Gladiator, Game of Thrones, The Mummy, and Lawrence of Arabia.

After lunch, we’ll pass through Ouarzazate, known for its film studios, and continue to the beautiful Dades Valley. Here, we’ll spend the night in a charming hotel or riad and enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Erg Chebbi

After having a delicious breakfast, we’ll journey further into the Dades Valley, known for its striking red rock formations. Our next stop is the breathtaking Todra Gorges, where you’ll have time to stroll through the canyon and admire its towering cliffs.

Continuing our trip, we’ll stop in Erfoud, a town famous for its fossils. Finally, we’ll arrive in Merzouga, where you’ll enjoy a camel trek through the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes during sunset.

The evening will be spent in a desert camp which has equipped tents. But before that, you’ll have dinner and enjoy Berber drums music around the campfire.

Day 3: Erg Chebbi – Rissani – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate

Today, we recommend you wake up early so you can catch the sunrise over the dunes, have your breakfast, and then we’ll ride camels back to Merzouga downtown.

From there, we’ll visit Rissani, a small town with a vibrant local market full of all sort of goods including spices, clothes, and hand-made stuff.

Once we finish exploring the market, we’ll travel through the scenic Draa Valley, famous for its palm groves.

We’ll stop for lunch along the way and then continue to Ouarzazate, where you can visit the movie studios. We’ll spend the night here, with a delicious dinner at a local riad.

Day 4: Ouarzazate – High Atlas mountains - Marrakech

After breakfast, we’ll visit Ouarzazate’s famous Atlas Studios, where many Hollywood films were shot. Then, we’ll drive back through the impressive High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi Ntichka Pass again.

We’ll return to Marrakech in the late afternoon, where our tour from Marrakech and our services will end.
