Overview
Explore Morocco on a 6-day adventure starting in Tangier and ending in Marrakech. We’ll visit Tangier’s touristic attractions, the charming blue city of Chefchaouen, and the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis.
Discover the imperial cities of Meknes and Fes before heading to the Erg Chebbi Sahara Desert for a camel ride and night in a desert camp. The journey continues through the breathtaking Todra Gorges, Dades Valley, and the historic Ait Ben Haddou before we return to Marrakech.
Tour Plan: 6 Days Tour Tangier to Marrakech
Day 1: Arrival in Tangier – Chefchaouen
We’ll begin our tour by picking you up from your location in Tangier. Known as “the bride of the north,” Tangier is where the Mediterranean and Atlantic meet. We’ll start by exploring the stunning Cave of Hercules and the Cape Spartel lighthouse, which offers panoramic views of the ocean.
After having lunch, we’ll drive through Tetouan and the Rif Mountains to reach Chefchaouen, the famous blue-painted city.
We’ll spend the night in a traditional riad or hotel in Chefchaouen.
Day 2: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes
After breakfast, we’ll enjoy a leisurely morning walking through Chefchaouen’s colorful streets. Next, we’ll drive to the ancient Volubilis, where you’ll see well-preserved mosaics and grand archways from the Roman Empire.
The next stop is Meknes, an imperial city known for its historical monuments like Bab Al-Mansour and the Royal Stables. Later, we’ll continue to Fes, where we’ll stay overnight in a traditional Riad.
Day 3: Full Day Exploring Fes
Today, we’ll take you on a guided tour of Fes, Morocco’s cultural and religious heart. We’ll begin at the Royal Palace and then explore the old Medina which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The tour also includes the Blue Gate, Medrasa Bouanania, and the famous tanneries. we’ll also visit the University of Al Quaraouin, the oldest in the world. The day ends with a visit to the Jewish Quarter and incredible views of Fes from a hilltop fortress.
Day 4: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Merzouga Sahara
Heading south, we’ll arrive in Ifrane, a town nicknamed the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its crisp air and unique Alpine-style houses. After a stop in the cedar forests, where you’ll have the opportunity to spot wild macaques, we’ll have lunch in Midelt.
In the afternoon, we’ll drive through the breathtaking Ziz Valley and arrive at the Merzouga Desert. Here, you’ll enjoy a camel riding experience through the dunes and watch the sunset before spending the night in a desert camp with traditional Berber music around a campfire.
Day 5: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
Today, we recommend you wake up early to watch the sunrise over the desert, before having a delicious breakfast.
Next, we will go to Rissani, an old town famous for its busy market. After that, we’ll visit the Todra Gorges, a beautiful canyon with high red cliffs. You will have time to explore before we continue to the Dades Valley.
We’ll stop at the unique “Monkey Fingers” rock formations and admire the views from the top of the valley before staying overnight in a local hotel.
Day 6: Dades Valley – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
On our last day, we’ll drive through the Rose Valley and stop at the palm groves in Skoura. Then, we’ll visit Ouarzazate to see the film studios and tour the famous Taourirt Kasbah.
From there, we’ll head to Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage site, famous for appearing in films like Gladiator and The Mummy.
After visiting the nearby Telouet Kasbah, we’ll drive through the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, arriving in Marrakech by evening.
