Overview
Let’s go on a 12-day tour that begins in Tangier and takes you through Morocco’s highlights. We’ll stroll through the bright blue streets of Chefchaouen, discover the history of Fes, and enjoy a peaceful night camping in the Sahara Desert under shooting stars.
We’ll travel through the beautiful Todra Gorge, see the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, and finish our trip in the busy city of Marrakech. On the way, you’ll ride camels, admire amazing mountain views, and experience the culture of Morocco.
Tour Plan: 12 Days Tour from Tangier
Day 1: Tangier – Tetouan – Chefchaouen
This is the first day of our tour, our driver we’ll pick you up from your accommodation in Tangier to start our journey heading towards Tetouan, a beautiful city with a rich history.
As we pass through the impressive Rif Mountains, we’ll take in incredible sea views before arriving at the blue city, Chefchaouen. Here, we’ll explore the charming old medina, famous for its blue-painted walls and Andalusian influences.
We’ll spend the night in a traditional hotel or riad.
Day 2: Chefchaouen – Fes
Once we finish our breakfast, we’ll leave Chefchaouen and drive through the picturesque Rif Mountains on our way to Fes.
Fes is known as the brain and cultural center of Morocco, with its old city full of history and traditional markets. After arriving, we’ll take you to a hotel or traditional riad to spend the night.
Day 3: Free Day To Explore Fes
Today, we’ll spend the day discovering Fes. First, we’ll visit the old Medina, one of the biggest and oldest in the world. Then, we’ll go to the Marinid tombs, where you can see great views of the city, and explore the beautiful Madrasa Bou Inania, known for its incredible design.
You’ll walk through the lively markets filled with spices and handmade goods, and visit the famous tanneries where leather is colored by hand. We’ll stop for a traditional Moroccan lunch before exploring more of the narrow streets.
At the end of the day, we’ll return to your accommodation to stay the night.
Day 4: Fes – Ifrane – Merzouga
Today, we’ll leave Fes and make our way through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first stop will be in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” because of its European-style feel.
We’ll pass by the cedar forests of Azrou before heading to the Sahara Desert. Once in Merzouga, you’ll enjoy a welcoming mint tea and spend the night in a hotel near the desert dunes.
Day 5: Merzouga Desert & Camel Trekking
After breakfast, we’ll start our day by exploring the Merzouga desert. First, we’ll visit the village of Khamlia, a small community known for its Gnawa music, you’ll have the chance to listen to their traditional music. Next, we’ll pass by M’ifis mines and continue our way to visit nomad families and learn about their lifestyle.
In the afternoon, we’ll ride camels through the vast golden dunes of the Sahara as we enjoy the sunset. We’ll reach the desert camp, where you’ll enjoy traditional music at a campfire, and have a delicious dinner before you go to your bed in desert tents.
Day 6: Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley
We’ll start the day by watching the incredible scenery of sunrise in the desert before heading towards Todra Gorge.
This stunning canyon is one of the most beautiful in Morocco. After exploring, we’ll continue to Dades Valley, where we’ll spend the night in a local hotel or riad.
Day 7: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
We’ll travel through the Valley of Roses and arrive at Ouarzazate, also known as the “Hollywood of Africa” due to its film studios which are used in major film productions.
We’ll visit the old Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a famous fortified village. After that, we’ll cross the High Atlas Mountains and arrive in Marrakech, where you’ll spend the night in a riad or local hotel.
Day 8: Free Day To Explore Marrakech
A full day in Marrakech starts with a guided tour to explore the vibrant city. During the sightseeing, we’ll visit the Majorelle Gardens, the Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace, and the lively souks.
Marrakech is known for its colorful markets and historical sites, and you’ll have time to explore its tourist attractions before we take you to a hotel or riad to spend the night.
Day 9: Marrakech – Argan Valley – Essaouira
We’ll leave Marrakech and drive to the seaside town of Essaouira. On the way, we’ll stop at a women’s cooperative where they make argan oil by hand. This oil is used for cooking and skincare.
After the visit, we’ll continue our trip to Essaouira where you can relax and enjoy the cool air by the sea. In the evening, you’ll stay overnight in a hotel near the coast.
Day 10: Free Day To Explore Essaouira
Essaouira is known for its old medina, its lovely port, and its long sandy beaches. We’ll spend the day exploring the city’s history, starting with a visit to the old walls and fortifications.
After that, we’ll walk through the lively ancient medina, where you can shop for handmade crafts and local goods. Essaouira is also famous for its Gnaoua music, which gives the town a unique vibe.
Day 11: Essaouira – Marrakech
You’ll have some free time in the morning to explore Essaouira on your own. After having lunch, we’ll return to Marrakech for your final night in the city.
You can enjoy a hammam, or a traditional Moroccan steam bath, or take a carriage ride to admire the beautiful Majorelle Gardens.
Day 12: Departure from Marrakech
On your last day, we’ll transfer you to Marrakech’s international airport based on your flight time. This brings our wonderful journey through Morocco to an end.
